Battle Chef Brigade is a unique action role-playing game that combines combat and cooking mechanics. Players assume the role of a contestant in the prestigious Battle Chef Brigade, a competition where chefs prove their culinary prowess by hunting monsters and transforming them into exquisite dishes. The gameplay loop consists of two distinct phases: hunting and cooking. During the hunting phase, players navigate various environments, engaging in real-time combat against a variety of fantasy creatures. Each creature drops different ingredients upon defeat. Combat is presented as a side-scrolling brawler, featuring a range of weapons and special abilities unique to each playable character. The cooking phase takes place in a match-three puzzle format. Players must strategically combine ingredients on a cooking board to create dishes that meet specific criteria, such as flavor profiles (earth, fire, water, air) and presentation. The quality and speed of dish preparation directly impact judges' scores. Higher scores contribute to progression through the Brigade's ranks and unlock new recipes, ingredients, and character upgrades. The game features multiple playable characters, each with their own distinct combat style, cooking specialties, and narrative arc. Progression involves both mastering combat encounters and optimizing cooking strategies to overcome increasingly complex culinary challenges. Battle Chef Brigade also incorporates a charming hand-drawn art style and full voice acting for its cast of characters.
