The Adventure Pals is a side-scrolling action-platformer developed by Massive Monster. Players assume the role of a young boy named Andy, embarking on a quest to rescue his father, who has been kidnapped by the evil Mr. B. Andy is accompanied by his best friend, a giraffe named Sparkles, and a pet rock named Mr. Rock. The game features 105 levels spread across five distinct worlds. Each world introduces new enemies, environmental hazards, and boss encounters. Combat involves a combination of melee attacks and platforming maneuvers. Andy utilizes a sword for close-quarters combat, while Sparkles assists with special abilities, such as extending his neck to reach distant platforms or attacking enemies from afar. Mr. Rock provides additional utility, including being thrown to activate switches or stun enemies. The Adventure Pals incorporates an experience point system, allowing players to level up Andy and unlock new abilities. These abilities enhance combat effectiveness, movement options, or the utility of Sparkles and Mr. Rock. The game supports both single-player and local cooperative multiplayer modes, where a second player can control Sparkles. Collectibles are present throughout the levels, including cupcakes that serve as in-game currency for purchasing upgrades and new outfits.
