Alone in the Dark is a survival horror game that reinterprets the 1992 original. Players control either Emily Hartwood or Edward Carnby, investigating the Derceto Manor, a home for the mentally fatigued. Both protagonists offer distinct narrative perspectives and playable sections within the manor. The game features a third-person over-the-shoulder camera perspective. Exploration of Derceto Manor involves solving environmental puzzles, finding key items, and uncovering lore through found documents and interactive objects. Combat encounters are present and involve firearms and melee weapons, with a focus on resource management and strategic engagement. Ammunition and health items are limited, encouraging careful decision-making during confrontations with various monstrous entities. The narrative progresses through exploration and interaction with the manor's inhabitants and its supernatural elements. The game incorporates elements of psychological horror, focusing on atmosphere and tension building. Character voice acting includes Jodie Comer as Emily Hartwood and David Harbour as Edward Carnby. Alone in the Dark is designed to offer a faithful yet updated experience of the classic survival horror title, emphasizing narrative choice and atmospheric gameplay.
